Still Learning

by LJ Minor from Kirkland, WA on 2010-05-07
Well, I have had this little gem since January. I am still learning how to use it--just trust me when I say that. Complaints right now--YUP(and the reason for the 4 stars)---Verizon does not have a great protective case for this phone, so if you drop it--you are dead. And be careful purchasing other cases from other wireless providers-they may not fit/work properly. They do not have enough apps for it either--most of them you have to purchase through another site. And to make it work at its full potential--purchase the 16gb card to go with this phone (it actually wants a 32gb--good luck finding one). The memory in it is not enough to get it to operate correctly. Now some of the other complaints I have heard is that it runs the battery fast--well,yes and to some degree--and how you are using it. I do not expect any smartphone similar to this to have long battery life-that's just not possible. And if you use it like I do, texting, music, email, photos, work, videos/photos, etc--and daily-well, DUH! So I keep an extra charger at work and at home and it will also charge when connected to your computer. And it does come up slow and the more you have loaded the slower it is--hence the need for a 16gb, but needs a 32gb memory/storage card. I have not had one lost or dropped call and it works just fine in some of the strangest places (it is 3g)--like my office. I can get and receive calls that my fellow Blackberry users cannot (they wander around "looking" for connections). I LOVE the slide out keyboard/flip. It is large enough to type away. Do purchase the screen protectors-the face does get easily scratched. And the headphone jack is a 3.5mm. The screen is wonderfully large, clear, bright and colorful. I have watched movies, tv and videos with no real problems. And the 3.2 camera does a good job for a camera in a phone. Me-I am a SLR lover and always will be. And while I am miffed about purchasing a separate Verizon data package (required to get phone to do all the data stuff), the total cost for running this smartphone for me is under $100 a month--sometimes a little more, but not much. So all in all. It was a good choice for my first smartphone.
